Often referred to as 'Bellydance', Arabic dance or Raqs Sharqi is a foundation for a variety of fusion dance styles you see today (including mine). At its core, it is folk dance, something to be enjoyed by the community, which gives a very different sense of style than the younger, more Westernized Styles. This workshop will present the music and dance I fell in love with and drill the movements that were first brought to the stage, including Hip and Pelvis accents, Shimmies, Camels, Circles and more. This is where I began and where I always return.
